Resilience & Grit

iStock_000006466303XSmallI went to a talk at my kids’ school yesterday on Resilience and Grit, and why these qualities are so important for our kids to succeed… in school, at work, in relationships and in life.  It’s a fascinating topic that I spend a lot of time thinking about and could talk about endlessly.  I’m so intrigued by the results of various studies that track success tied to resilience and perseverance.

I love this definition:

Grit: the ability to exhibit passion and perseverance for very long term goals.

For those of you who know me well, know that most everything circles back to sports for me… whether it be physical or analogous.  When you think about it, most aspects of sports lend to grit and resilience.

I challenge you to find ways that you can use your kids’ sports and their commitment to sports to carry over into everyday life.  Let’s teach our kids to live life like it’s a marathon rather than a sprint and focus on perseverance rather than obstacles!

Have a great weekend!

Much Love,
Renee
